Barcelona have finally returned to the winning ways after four straight La Liga
games with a spectacular 8-0 win on the road against Deportivo La
Coruña, thanks to goals from Luis Suárez (4), Ivan Rakitic, Lionel
Messi, Marc Bartra and Neymar Jr. Against a difficult opponent in a
hostile environment at Riazor, the Blaugrana said goodbye to the crisis with a sensational collective performance and a giant victory to stay at the top of the league.
FIRST HALF
The Blaugrana
had complete control of the game from the first minute. The possession
was high and well utilized, the players moved quickly and smartly, and
the 'MSN' trio was constantly switching positions to break down Depor's
defense. Yet the first goal came in a corner-kick, when Ivan Rakitic
played a beautiful cross straight to the left foot of Luis Suárez who
scored the opener.
Immediately
after the goal, Deportivo had two clear-cut chances in a bad
five-minute stretch for Barça's defense. That was the only troubling
moment, however. The Catalans continued to take control of the actions,
and a great team move finished by a sensational through ball by Messi
found Suárez alone in the box, and the Uruguayan didn't disappoint and
calmly beat the keeper for the second goal.
At
halftime, a very safe, controlled, impressive performance from the
Blaugranes and an important lead that could become a blowout if they
maintained the rhythm in the second half.
SECOND HALF
Barça
did maintain their pace and that led to a comfortable final period.
After just one minute, Neymar brought the ball up in a quick
counter-attack and passed it to Suárez inside the box. The Uruguayan
then showed absurd vision and played a sensational lob pass to a
wide-open Rakitic, who easily scored the third.
Just
five minutes later, another fantastic buildup play by the visitors was
capped off by another genius through ball from Messi to Suárez, who
completed his hat-trick and scored Barça's fourth.
Deportivo
made offensive substitutions and went forward with purpose to try and
score at least one goal and avoid embarrassment at home. That naturally
left gaps on their defense, and the best player in the world took
advantage. One more sensational pass by Messi to an open Neymar who
served Suárez for his fourth and Barça's fifth on the night.
After
giving goals all evening, it was time for Messi to have one of his own.
Another great buildup from the team, a fantastic individual move by
Suárez and a smart pass to Lionel, who easily finished for Barça's sixth
at Riazor. The game was so comfortable that even the forgotten
man wanted a piece of the party. Defender Bartra recovered a ball and
made a phenomenal run through the defense before scoring a great goal.
There
was still time for more, and after another lightning fast
counter-attack from the 'MSN' trio, Suárez gave his third assist of the
night to Neymar, who dribbled the keeper without even touching the ball
and scored goal number eight for the Blaugrana.
In the end, an incredible victory with a spectacular team performance and a huge confidence boost for the final four games in La Liga. Yes, the best team in the world is back.
